He drives, asks me where I want to go, takes me to a cute coffee place far, far away, holds doors, pays for me, drops me off at home, and says, "This was nice. We should do it again sometime."

I agree with Queen. It is a date with the possibility of pretending it wasn't. Good strategy if you need to back out of it. But he wants a date at a later time.
