So. The end.

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 19, 2008, 7:18 PM
Awwww. So Aang got his girl, which was cute. I just wish he'd gotten a bit taller by the time they kissed. Ah, well. It wasn't as painful to watch as I thought it would be, probably because I'd already reconciled myself to the idea of Kataang. Overall, a sensible, good ending (which, according to Zutarians, could have been even better, hahaha).

I particularly liked the showdown between Azula and Zuko. That was just off-the-charts hot, no pun intended. And Katara's stunt with the freezing and the chains, holy crap. I HAVE BEEN WAITING THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SERIES FOR SOMETHING LIKE THAT TO GO DOWN. It was amazing, truly.

I was doubtful during the beginning of the episode, I was like "omg Aang quit being a wuss and FRY OZAI'S ASS!!!!!!11" Even though I knew he would just take his bending away, up until that moment I was really hoping Aang would be able to kill him. But after it actually happened, and it was a really beautiful scene, I liked it, and I was glad Aang stayed true to himself.

What I DID NOT APPRECIATE were the damn loose ends. Are we going to find out what happened to Zuko's mother, or what? I hate that they left it out. And also, what was the reason that Iroh buffed up again? To burn a Fire Nation flag? Seemed anticlimatic to me, I wish he'd gotten more action. That being said, I immensely enjoyed seeing all the old masters--Pakku and Piandao make a spectaculous team. Jeong Jeong was great too, and Bumi is...uniquely entertaining, haha. He kicked more ass than anyone, single-handedly.

Overall, a good, sensible end to a good show, I wish the creators had developed the Katara/Zuko friendship a bit more--it lacked a bit of substance for me. But that's probably because I'm a Zutara nut. Whatever, today, I shall make my peace with the Kataangers. YOUR SHIP ENDED IN A CUTE WAY OKAY. YOU WIN. I still hate Maiko though, sorry. They had a good scene at the end, but...I never really liked Mai's character, and I probably never will.

The end is really bittersweet. I was getting tired of the weird drawn-out airing schedule, but I was simultaneously thankful for it because I wasn't ready for it to end. Because of Avatar though, I made a lot of great friends on DA, and I'm glad that even though the show is over, I've still got you guys. thanks for all the support, all the comments, favs, your art--it made the show that much better. It was a great ride, from The Boy in the Iceberg to Avatar Aang. I'll miss it.

Enough babbling from me though--what I really want to know is what YOU guys thought of it, and how you feel now that it's over. :D

It was absolutely amazing! I think that the showdown between Zuko and Azula was my favorite. There was so much emotion there!

As for no Zutara - still sad over that. I don't know why but Katang just makes my skin crawl, like she's making out with her kid or something. But the end scene was cute, I'll give 'em that. Maiko is alright. *laughs* I loved Zuko face when Mai warned him to never break up with her again. Still Zutara would've been best. Poor Toph, she's the only single left.

Overall and awesome end to an awesome series. I'll miss it.

To start with I alway hated Mai. I didn't hate Maiko because I am Zutarian I hated Maiko because I hated Mai. Sorry I didn't find the very end cute. I cried. I hate admitting that. Honeslty, I never thought I would, but I guess my hopes stayed higher than I anticipated. Katara looked beautiful at the end though. Overall it was good, but like you said at first I was bit annoyed at Aang's punkness. And I thought Iroh was going to fight more. But it was tight seeing those old-timers kick some butt. I really wanted Azula to die and the Fire Lord, but especially Azula. So I'm a little discontent at the fact both of them lived. I really wished they would have showed Ursa. So is this the last episode truly, ever? Because if that's the case this was the series finale. Not the season. Not trying to be technical, but I've been wondering what's up with the uproar of no more Avatar. Because the last episode of any show is called the series finale and I've seen my share of those. And it's just been called the season finale. So was this really the last episode?

hahaha, yeah. Katara's always mothered Aang so much that I never felt like they had any romantic chemistry. But it's okay, I can deal with it, and I'll take the ending as it is. It was an epic end to an epic show. :)

I'm pretty sure it WAS the last episode. I don't think Nick was calling it "season finale", but they weren't calling it "series finale" either...I heard them say "world premier Avatar" and they did say "finale" at least a few times. I think they're still hoping that such a successful show will follow up with some more epilogue-type episodes. I don't think I could stomach any more Kataang action though, so I hope this was the end, for good, haha.

I'm sorry that you're so upset. I felt a lot like this when Harry Potter ended, but since I'm a crackshipper in general, I don't expect my ships to work out then, either. But it IS hard not to become invested in the ships. Perk up though, I'm sure something else good will come along.

Thanks for the comment :)

Wow. This really sucks. All this season, when people talked about it being the last I always thought, man why are people so upset there will be another season. But they're won't. That's horrible. Okay, you know you how cable has a guide and it gives information about the show and you see what's coming on television and stuff? Well, it had said the season 3 finale which led me to (and it seems only me) believe there was another season. Also, I think I got confused with some interviews of Mike and Bryan. When I heard them refer to a 'what's going to happen next season.' It must have been past tense. I think the fact that there was such a long stretch between the last 2 seasons and in between those seasons I got confused. Now I'm disappointed, but like you said, I don't think I could take more Kataang or Maiko for that matter. I guess I wish it ended open to interpetation or everyone's just good friends. Oh, well. Thanks for explaining. And thanks for the hug. I really needed it.

Yes, it wouldn't have sucked so bad if Zuko hadn't asked about his mother at the very end, and then not give us an answer. I may have tolerated it if Zuko had just kept his mouth shut about it. I know the writers like to tease, but as far as we know, this is it for Avatar. It'd be one thing if we were positive more episodes were to come, but as far as we know right now, there isn't. So...it was very cruel and stupid on the writers' part.

Yeah, that last question really left me hanging. I think they could have done a lot more with it, maybe incorporated it a bit earlier, given her a bigger role...I also would have liked one last glimpse of Azula. I'm know she's an evil bitch, but I'm really fond of her character.

What did you think of the rest of the finale? Did you like it? Did it meet your expectations?
