ember island players, anyone?

Fri Jul 18, 2008, 7:03 PM
I am sorry to say, I was a bit disappointed with this episode. Maybe it was because I'd seen half of it before. The play was hilarious when it first started but by the end it got kind of tiresome for me.

The less-than-subtle Zutara/Kataang rivarly going on in this episode also annoyed me slightly, though I can't explain why.

What did you guys think of it? Hilarious? A waste of an episode on comic relief? Let me know!

Oh, but the effects were pretty good...lmao. I love Sokka, truly. :p

I liked it. Yes, it was a little less exciting since I had seen the first seven minutes as well, but I liked it. I'm so lamed out, though, how it totally set everything up for Kataang later on. As a Zutarian, I must remain in denial. I laughed so hard when Zuko died, though. I'm not really sure why I found it funny.

I thought it was hilarious. Maybe because I have a strong sense of humor. I still have some hope Zutara will happen. But I'd even settle for just Kataang not to happen. Even if Katara and Zuko don't get together.

I guess that was what bothered me. It set things up for Kataang, but in a way that portrayed Zutara as only possible in this ridiculously inaccurate theatrical scenario. Because you KNOW zutara won't happen if they hint at it in the play. that's just the bottom line, and I wish I could be in denial but this episode basically killed my aspirations. lol.

thanks for the comment :)

I can't lie...this episode was a lot of fanservice, some comic relief, but I was bored throughout most of it. and when katara was like "I'm confused," I was like DAMN KATARA JUST GIVE IN TO AANG SO ALL THIS DRAMA CAN END. le sigh.

lol yeah. I wouldn't mind so much if Zutara didn't happen, but I would be overjoyed if Kataang/Maiko did NOT happen. I think that would be the best thing for the creators to do, personally. It's really the only way to please, or at least to appease, both fanbases. What I wouldn't give for an unresolved, open-to-interpretation ending. sigh.

I couldn't believe Aang kissed Katara after she said how confused she was about the whole situation. WRONG MOVE THERE, BUDDY. Felt bad for him, sure, but couple that with his being impatient about "when it'll be the right time," and his immaturity just reared its ugly head again. It felt like a complete 180 for him, coming from Mr. Mature in TSR.

Oh gosh, I kept laughing 'cause Suki was constantly dealing with Sokka's craziness! :XD:

And the cute Zuko and Toph talk. That was really sweet, especially since Toph never did go on a "field trip" with him. :3

I didn't much care for how everything in the play was "almost right" They are pretty much making fun of the entire A:TLA fandom with this. And it showed us that what we saw in the play (as far as the way the Gaang really acts and how things really happened, ect.) was totally WRONG.

And then there was the ZUTARA Cave scene. Is it just me or did it seem like Bryke was saying "ha, suckers, we totally made you believe in Zutara for three whole seasons and the truth is it's nothing but a big joke and never gonna happen."

Cuz it seemed like that to me, like they were making a mockery of all the different parts of the fandom. Like how in fan fics, the characters are sometimes over exaggerated. It was really more of a slap in the face to me than a humorous recap of the series.

the kataangst was awesome. It annoyed me a little that zutara has been pushed back to the background again. It made me afraid that it's not going to happen (while the previous episode got my hopes up).
I was a bit dissappointed in this episode too. It wasn't as funny as I imagined. Like you said it's possibly because we already saw the best half of the episode (kataangst not included).

I think this episode wasn't meant to present anything new. It's like one of those the-story-so-far episodes but then more funny.
