twilight sucks.

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 5, 2008, 10:13 AM
a lot.

the main character is a selfish emo little bitch. and her LOVER, edward, has no personality to speak of. the only good character, jacob black, gets screwed over by our lovable heroine on multiple occasions. the writing sucks, it reads like fanfiction written by a thirteen year old girl with no idea about how relationships or the REAL WORLD works. there is no finesse, as is clear in the way the author thinks she has to catalogue EVERY SECOND of EVERY DAY of our heroine's life. you would think a book with VAMPIRES and WEREWOLVES would be more interesting, but alas.

if you have read this book, I'm sorry. if you haven't, AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE.

also, if you liked this book/series, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TELL ME WHY.

  • Mood: Sarcastic
  • Reading: NOT twilight, thank god
  • Watching: CODE GEASS IS THE SHIT
  • Drinking: never again

HAHA, I ONLY READ IT FOR JACOB BLACK. I AM ONLY IN THE FANDOM FOR HIM, TRU-EFFIN-FAX.

EVERYTHING ELSE IN THAT SERIES KILLS MY BRAIN.

The LJ comm I'm a member of is doing an epic parody re-read of the seires with lots of snarking, and honestly, it's far more palpable than the original works.

I understand where you're coming from, but I don't think you're giving Bella--or the author--enough credit. Stephanie Meyer may not be the best author in the world, but you can't deny that she has a really unique writing style. Now, maybe I'm unusual, but I think she actually does pretty well for such an unusual way of writing--Twilight wouldn't be the same without it. Besides, just look at J.K. Rowling--have you SEEN her near adverb-addiction? She's SUPER popular, or at least Harry Potter is, and there are definetely authors out there that DO write better then she does. Part of it, I think, is the way she draws you into it, through her OWN style and the plot itself. And I don't think it's supposed to be exciting as in action/adventure exicting--it is a love story, after all.
I do agree with you on the Jacob Black front, however--I'd like it a hell of a lot better if HE were the one to get Bella instead D:
Have you ever tried to write a full-length story? If your pointing out that detail-oriented thing, I'm guessing you haven't. I run into that problem in fanfics all the time, and it's a HUGE effort to cut back on it, and try to only highlight the important stuff. I'm probably a bit wierd, but I find all those details actually really interesting :) I guess I like reading about people's everyday lives more than most, though, so I get what you're saying. But I WILL admit that it's kinda an amature trait to put in EVERYTHING....I guess it's just showing up there that this is really her first writing project, huh?
Cookies for you if you read all of that :D Just my opinion. Hope I didn't offend you in any way, and if I did, I'm sorry :)

:c I read two of the books because my friends adore it.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS SHIT IS SO POPULAR. D:

I never even knew about it until like a month ago. Everyone I've heard talk about it hates it, and now they're making it into a movie or something.

Good thing I only read books that would be found in the literature section. >_>

nah, of course you didn't offend me. thanks for explaining why the book appeals to you. :)

lol, yeah. my younger sister loves the series, but she can't explain why, and gets really mad when I expound on how crappy the books are. it sure makes me thankful for literature, though. :p

yeah I read the first two also. I'm only reading them so I can keep up with the jokes on encyclopedia dramatica, which are sadly a very accurate summary of the books. I definitely lost IQ points reading twilight, though. I'm sorry that your friends like them. my sister likes them as well, and won't hear a word against them which is SO FRUSTRATING BECAUSE THEY ARE THE WORST SHIT I HAVE EVER READ. JESUS.
